The Kerem Tunnel allows for a an experience that is unique in terms of hiking and riding.
The Kerem Tunnel is the first cycle tunnel to be constructed in Israel and was opened as part the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around the capital.

The tunnel is a link between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The southern entrance is within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is about half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.

The tunnel's official opening ceremony which measures 2.1 kilometers long, was held in Jerusalem and the Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman of the company) as well as a plethora of cyclists.

Elkin's Ministerial, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25 million for the project. Work was performed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin stated that the Kerem Tunnel project is an essential tool for achieving the idea to transform the idea of transportation throughout Jerusalem. Elkin explained that the proposed tunnel will connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path and will join existing bike paths. It will also be paved in the various neighborhoods. This will increase cycling and encourage green transport in Jerusalem.

The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s to relocate the main sewer line toward the Sorek purification plant.
